The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Nelson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Darlene Victoria Nelson-Watkins
Dad was well loved by all those close to him. He was always giving generously to people he loved and sometimes to strangers in need. Dad was a political activist during the 1960's up until the vary end. He was an avid CNN, MSNBC "household" spokesperson/debator, that I so enjoyed, while home Sundays having his favorite meal, breakfast. He wrote his views and opinions to the local newspapers using his un-dated brothers typewriter. He wrote a book (unpublished) about his life during the 1960's. He had an answer, solution to all the problems of the world and very few listened. He received letters from politicians including President Obama and Mrs. Obama. Dad never gave up, he pressed on until his health no longer allowed him to work. Too him, nothing was "too complicated". Computers are for the young, he knew something most did not, to operate his brother typewriter. Dad, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, Uncle Dick, cousin, a friend--Richard F. Nelson will certainly be missed by all who loved him. I will miss you Dad for all you did for me, for us. Rest Well in Heaven. We'll see you and Mom soon.

Linda "Too Tall" Spears (Daughter #2 and your Sunday Roadie)
Dear Dad, I absolutely love that you are in heaven with mom. I love that you left us with an awesome Legacy of Life and Love & FUN. I'll remember the summers in Grand Marais, Minnesota when you took us for summer Road trips. Bless you for teaching me to swim, saving me from drowning, teaching me to fish, boat, hike, camp, shoot, canoe and be a Voyager. I love how you rescued mom and she thought of you as her guardian angel. You were always there for us...for me. I'll remember the family outings, Father's Day at Ravinia, the fun gifts you gave me, Dave, and Darlene...the exact same gifts. Too cute...no favorites. You taught me to live my "Bucket List NOW". You may have not won the big Lotto Winnings but you won the best prize of all...the future legacy of family living on as you continue to celebrate your New Life in Heaven. I prayed for peace for you every night and day and G-D Bless us all with answering my prayer for you. No more suffering. I'll miss you but you will live on in my special color code of life...Beige beige beige....I SEE YOU. Love & Hugs,Forever and ever. Linda
