Obituary for Pearline Alexander

Pearline Alexander was born on August 21, 1920 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to William Finny and Elnora Harris. To this union there were five children; in which they all preceded her in death. Pearline received her upbringing and some education in the state of Arkansas.
Pearline accepted Christ at an early age. She enjoyed visiting the church homes of family members and friends throughout her lifespan, and had a personal relationship with the lord.
Pearline was the epitome of a “Country Girl”, and made a living in the fields. Some of her responsibilities included picking cotton, cooking, baking and gardening.
On November 30, 1936, Pearline was united in Holy Matrimony to Jonas Alexander in Little Rock, Arkansas. To this union twelve children were born. James, Flossie, Lillian and Pearline all preceded her in death. She later adopted Edward Alexander, in which she loved and cherished as if he were own.
She later traveled and resided in Memphis, Tennessee, as well as spent a great portion of her life in Chicago, IL. Pearline had a passion for helping others; young and old. She became a foster parent, and enjoyed raising her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and foster kids. Pearline was also a manager over the nursing department at Thorndale Nursing Home, here in Chicago for many years.
Pearline continued gardening and cooking; even in her later years. She continued both hobbies until her health started to decline. Pearline took pride in her family, and enjoyed them as often as she could.
Pearline always shared her special remedies and famous recipes with all. She was known for being sassy and quick with her hands. She was stern, but very gentle all at the same time.
Pearline passed from this life and into the arms of her lord on the early morning of Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the age 100 years old. She transitioned peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Pearline leaves to cherish her six daughters; Allison, Quincella (James), Shelia, Benita, Mary (Jerry) and Ramonia (Darryl), three sons; Dewayne (Bonnie), Jonas Jr. and Edward; 33 Grandchildren, and hosts of special great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
