Lillie Childs began her journey in life on November 7, 1953 to Mary Louise Jefferson in Shelby Mississippi. Her mother, three sisters: Pearlean Ware, Evoughn Ware and Betty Jones preceded her in death. Lillie was educated in the Leland Public School District. It was there that she met Willie Dennis. In 1972 she and Willie moved to Chicago Illinois where the had and raised 4 children: Vanessa Dennis, Larinzo Dennis, Donta Childs and Michelle Childs.
Lillie held positions in the restaurant industry as she loved to cook. Lillie’s true passion was helping and caring for the elderly. She held a long- term position at the Retreat Nursing home until health issues caused her to leave the field. Lillie was a strong, hardworking, kind and loving woman to her family, friends, and church community. There isn’t a single sole Lillie wouldn’t offer a home cooked meal to.
After what seems like a life time, Lillie said goodbye to Chicago in 2014 and moved to Springfield IL to be closer to her grandchildren.
