Obituary for Katie Jacox

Katie Murrell-Jacox was born December 30, 1959 to the union of Leon and Sarah Murrell in
Chicago, Illinois. She attended Manley High School. Katie confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and later became a member of Home of Life Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Henderson. She served as a member of the Pastor Aides Ministry and the Gospel Choir. Katie was married to Steven Jacox, who preceded her in death. She was employed as a Residential Counselor for over thirty at Lawrence Hall. Katie earned many achievements throughout her lifetime as a seamstress, cook and hairdresser. She was a loving, kind, gentle and humble. A true woman of God! Katie Murrell-Jacox was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; Leon and Sarah Murrell, sister; Diane Sackes, husband; Steven Jacox, two brothers; Richard and Eddie Sackes, uncle; Eddie Sackes and niece;
Aisha Sykes. Katie leaves to cherish her memories, children; Steven (Ramona), Shamir, Shameka, Isaiah,
other children; Tiffany Jacox, Lakisha and Portia Murrell, grandchildren; Shamir Jr., Xavier, Zion, Caleb, Olivia, Khalil, Lanesha, Rodney Jr., Shadiamond, ZaQuan, Tiffany Jr., Jayden, Deveon, Adrianna, Marley and Legend, four greatgrandchildren; Khalil, Bailey, Malaysia and Lolayah, siblings; Albert Sykes, Leon (Donna) Murrell, Delane (Tina) Murrell, Alice Murrell, Juanita, Louis, Shree and Michael Murrell, nieces; Samantha and Sarah Murrell, Dasmine, Cameron and Sarah Trimble, Joellen Coker, Tee, Alisha, Cia, lifetime best friend Sheila
