Obituary for Henry L. Greer

Henry Greer was born March 30, 1926, to David and Julia Greer in Denmark, TN.
Henry received his Elementary School education in Jackson, TN. His family moved to Chicago, IL. while he was in H.S. Henry completed his High School education here at Wells High School. After High School he worked at Wesley Memorial Hospital. Henry later began working for General Motors were he retired from in 1990.
Henry accepted Christ at an early age. Henry began attending Hermon Baptist Church with his sisters and cousins whom were already members. He quickly joined Hermon in1944. During his time at Hermon, he worked in many areas of the church. His most loved positions were Sunday school superintendent and being on the Deacon board. (he was known to most as Deacon Greer or Dec). Deacon Greer loved his Pastor, his Deacon Brothers, and church family.
In1960 Henry united in Holy matrimony to Mary Williams. Through this union he gained 10 children, but throughout his life, he was a dad, granddad, friend, and an ear to lean on for many. His knowledge and ability to listen had many wanting to be and enjoying his company.
Henry Greer departed this world on September 16, 2016.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife Mary, siblings Alice, Georgiana, Callie Mae, Roberta, Luvina, Amos, Frank, and John, daughters Jaqueline (Jackie) and Dorothy (Dot), Grandsons Victor, Jessie, and Keith.
Henry leaves to cherish his memory four daughters: Delores, Juliet, Sandra, and Linda. Four sons: Jessie (Cindy), Derrick (Christine), Aundra, and Amos. A host of grand and great grandchildren. One great great grandchild. One nephew: David (Betty). A host of cousin and friends.
