Obituary for Gregory West

Gregory Charles West, known to family and friends as “ Woda”, was born on July 10, 1984 in Chicago, IL to Posey Woods and Frances West-Wilson. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Lake Overholser Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Greg spent his early childhood growing up in Chicago, Illinois in the care of both of his parents before moving with his mother to 29 Palms, California and later to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he spent his formative years.
He attended Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City and received his high school diploma in 2004.

After graduating, Greg immediately started his career in the service industry. He was known to be a hard worker with a strong work ethic as he typically worked more than one job at a time. In 2009, he relocated back to Chicago where he continued his career in the service industry, working full time at Chicago Ohare International Airport and as a part-time valet where he met many celebrities. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Greg decided to leverage all his knowledge and skills in the service industry and pursue his entrepreneurial dreams. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia and started his own cleaning service.

Gregory was known for his generous heart and loving spirit. If you needed him, he was always there. He would give you the shirt off of his back, if you asked. He loved to travel! Meeting new people, enjoying good food, and seeing different parts of the world was his favorite past time. Everyone that came in contact with Greg, fell in love with his spirit. He just had that positive energy that everyone loved being around and when In his presence he was sure to put a smile on your face, make you laugh, or both. He was the life of the party, with a heart of gold!

Gregory departed this life on July 16, 2021.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mom Frances West-Wilson (Michael) of Oklahoma City, OK; his dad Posey Wood (Mealnee) of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Samuel West (Staci) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jason Ashton Woods of Chicago, IL; Three sisters, Corless Vaughn of Oklahoma City, OK, Jade Ashley Woods and Dymond Woods of Chicago, IL; twelve nieces and nephews; six great nieces and nephews; one Godson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends that loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed.
