He had many nicknames, Gin Gin, Mason, Ma$e, and the Hulk. The only person who could call him
Gerald was his mother.
He was a straight A student who attended Western Illinois University and then, The Illinois State Police
Academy in Springfield.
He had two goals in life, being a power ranger and becoming a police officer. He exceeded at them both.
Since the age of 2, he told his mother that he wanted to be a police officer. He would have his cousins
lined up against the wall, searching their pockets, while pretending to place them under arrest. He
would wake his family up with a flashlight in their faces telling them they were under arrest.
Ma$e was known to many as being kindhearted and humbled. His co-workers called him “The Hulk” and
stated, “he was a gentle giant”. While being a state trooper, in the event of his passing, many
individuals recognized him and said, “he had pulled them over on multiple occasions”, acknowledging
that they were in the wrong, and stated, “he would release them with a warning. He would allow them
to call family and friends to pick up their vehicles instead of allowing them to be towed”.
He was a mentor to many. He would send money to his cousins who were in college as encouragement
for them to continue. He loved the White Sox, He loved wrestling, He loved to workout. He loved his job,
He loved his family, especially his mother. He loved many, and he is loved by many.
Gerald is preceded in death by his uncle Arlandia Moore, his aunt Debra McKinnie, and his grandmother
Esther (Mitty) Mason.
