Obituary for David Hardrick

On Sunday, May 9, 2021, his Heavenly Father called David Bashi Hardrick
to rest in Glory. David was born November 25, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois, the
only child of Arnetta Hardrick. He accepted Christ into his life at very early
age at Wayman AME Church in Chicago, Illinois under the pastoral
leadership of Reverend Jesse Cotton. Later in life he returned to Wayman
AME Church under the pastorate of Reverend Clinton E. Ward, III. who
remarked: “David wonderfully served as a Trustee, an elected office during
his time at Wayman while I was pastor, he was extremely helpful.”
David received his education in the Chicago Public Schools. He attended and
graduated from Louis Armstrong Elementary School and Austin Academy
High School.
While David was affectionately known as “Crazy Dave,” throughout his life
he demonstrated his many gifts and talents through various jobs he held as
well as through the tasks and projects he so willingly performed for his
family and friends. David enjoyed the challenges of repairing any and
everything that included household appliances and carpentry projects, office
equipment and automotive repairs. He was employed by CNA Insurance
Company, the United States Postal Service, Arrow Home Products, and
North Side Housing and Supportive Services, just to name a few. On October
16, 1991, David enlisted in the United States Navy. He served aboard the
U.S.S. Tarawa and was stationed on the coast of Iraq. On June 12, 1993, he
successfully completed Airman Apprentice Training Program.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents Oscar and Ida (Donald)
Hardrick and his aunt, Arnita Hardrick White.
David will be greatly missed by people who knew and loved him.
David leaves cherished memories to: his Mother, Arnetta Hardrick, his aunts,
Gloria Hardrick Robinson and Constance Hardrick, all of Chicago, Illinois,

one Great-Aunt, Mae Annie Stewart of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, his sister-
cousin, Tanisha (Tommy) Murray of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and a host of

cousins and friends.
